BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON TRANSLATION SERVICES

H.B. Translation Services is run by Heather Batchelor who is a sole proprietor.  It offers translation services for the following languages:

Only highly qualified and accredited translators are used for this work.  They are able to work with technical and legal texts in all areas of specialisation. 

The company was started in July 1996 by Heather Batchelor, who after completing a B.A. degree in French and German, enrolled at Wits University (Graduate school of Translators and Interpreters) where she completed her Masters Degree in Translation (French, German and English).  Her thesis was entitled “Stylistic and Terminological problems in the translation of French and German pharmaceutical and medical texts”. 

Heather then proceeded to do a two-year trilingual commercial course in Lausanne, Switzerland at the Ecole Moderne de Commerce et de Langues (French, German and English).  She then worked for some time whilst studying Spanish with a private tutor.  In 1990 Heather travelled to Southern Spain where she spent 5 months at a language school “Hispanica, Colegio de estudios praticas” in Nerja, perfecting her Spanish.  She then went on to the University of Salamanca to complete a Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish. 

Heather has worked for well-known international organisations, including Agence française de Développement where she gained considerable translation practise and further knowledge of foreign languages. 

With her company, Heather endeavours to produce top quality translations that cover a wide range of topics. In order to achieve this, Heather makes extensive use of a personal library of specialised dictionaries in the different fields and languages that she collects from round the world. The Internet is also used for further research and for seeking out precise terms for innovative technology. The work is carried out as accurately and as speedily as possible.
